Vinnytsia region has joined the international environmental action “1 million trees in one day in 100 countries.” It was held as part of the “Greening of the Planet” project. About 260,000 trees have been planted On April 10 by the local community, which has exceeded our expectations by more than 50,000.

During the day, we had been receiving information about extensive landscaping in the region. The website of the regional department of forestry and hunting reported on how the action is taking place in the districts. The organizer of the action, Hanna Davydenko told us how to plant trees in Vinnytsia via Facebook.

Foresters of the region planted 203 thousand trees on April 10, Saturday, covering ​​46.3 hectares, located in 28 areas to commemorate the doctors Chernobyl victims. Another 30,000 hectares of trees have appeared in the villages, towns and cities of the region. This is the result of the action “Greening of the country: one million trees in one day.” |The participants were: the officials, entrepreneurs, teachers, students, and foreign students.

According to Hanna Davydenko, saplings were planted in Kalicha Square in honor of doctors from Vinnytsia who are currently rescuing people from Covid-19. Also, the memorial plate have been installed. The liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, together with Natalia Kvyat, created an alley in memory of those who saved the world from the biggest global catastrophe 35 years ago.

In the Old Town, guardsmen from the military unit 3008 of the National Guard of Ukraine together with the Vinnytsia Cossack regiment named after Ivan Bohun and the staff of the Vinnytsia Institute of the University “Ukraina” planted 30 pines for the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.

Trees were planted by teachers and students of the National Technical University, kindergarten staff and parishioners of the Tyazhyliv district church, KNESS company, Podolsk Zoo, “Griboyedova 3” housing cooperative, secondary schools №16 and №25, other groups.

According to her, they were working in the park on the outskirts of the city. “First we had to remove the old leaves, clear the area of ​​fallen branches. It took us almost an hour. We worked with volunteers. Then they took up the shovels.”

 “This action is important not only for the environment. It is significant as an example of a joint history of success. For the second year in a row, we have managed to unite people around the wonderful idea of ​​planting trees by local communities and local authorities. Residents of the region, educational institutions and socially responsible businesses are actively involved, ” said Hanna Davydenko.

In Vinnytsia region, trees and saplings were planted in 528 locations: in 51 territorial communities and in the region’s forests.

“We draw people’s attention not only to the tree planting, but also to the recycling of garbage. For the second year in a row, the project “Turn garbage into trees” is underway in Vinnytsia region. People sort their wastes, hand it over “Eco-Service” recycling company, thus we proceed to buy seedlings” – said Olga Malinovskaya.

The planting was supported by numerous schools, universities, rehabilitation centers for children with disabilities, the National Guard, liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, charitable foundations, associations, foresters, including school forestry, politicians, business representatives – IT companies, McDonald’s. A total of 6,471 volunteers have planted 283,000 trees. The planted species included: ginkgo biloba, sakura, thuja, oaks, lindens, birches, maples, pines, spruces, lilacs, chestnut trees, maples, American maples, ashes, fir, larch, dwarf pines, various fruit trees – apricots, cherries, apple, pear, plum, quince, mulberry, hibiscus, hornbeam, elm, hawthorn, sycamore, willow, viburnum, plane trees, acacia, rowan, paulownia, catalpa.

Planting a tree means making a gift to the planet, providing people with oxygen. It is also a symbol of prosperity and fertility. Every year, planted trees will not only be a pleasure to the eyes, but will also serve as air purifiers! Local authorities and politicians and ordinary citizens have joined the “Greening of the Planet” project. The action was held through individual and joint plantings in different parts of Kirovograd region.

This year, representatives of the Kirovograd Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting joined the action “Greening of the Planet” of the project “Greening of Ukraine”, sharing a single purpose – preservation of the environment and improvement of communities within the action of the State Forest Agency “Creating forests together”.

Greening of Kirovograd region was carried out both on the territory of Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandriya, Dolynska, villages and settlements of territorial communities of the region, as well as on the territory of forestries (“Golovanivsky forestry”, “Dolynsky forestry”, “Kompaniivsky forestry”, “Oleksandrivsky “, ” Onikiyivsky Forestry “, ” Onufriyivsky Forestry “, ” Svitlovodsky Forestry “, ” Chornolisky Forestry “). A total of 34.4 thousand oaks and other 384 trees were planted.

Representatives of local self-government bodies, communal enterprises, various territorial communities, public organizations and ordinary citizens took part in the action throughout the Kirovograd region, which covers four districts: Novoukrainsky, Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandriyskyi, Golovanivskyi. There were also numerous young participants.

For the second year in a row, Kirovograd Region is participating in the Greening of Ukraine project, which gives inspiration, positive emotions and unites all stakeholders in the joint 2021 Greening of the Planet campaign. The global initiative, which covered almost 100 countries aimed at ordinary participants, partners, countries, will continue in the future. More and more people are uniting around global issues – preserving the environment, cleaning the air, reducing CO2 emissions. We express our gratitude to the organizers, all partners and all participants of the action. Save the environment every day! ” – said the project co-organizer Tetyana Kotenko.

Thus, employees of the Dolyna City Council and public utilities planted Canadian spruce, blue spruce, almond, Judas tree and sakura saplings in the Druzhba City Park.

This year, Druzhba Park will shine with new colors and will grace the Dolyna community. 8 volunteers of the Dolyna territorial community took part in planting.

Greening of the community was also carried out in the rural areas of Novohryhorivka Persha, Oleksandrivka, Malovodyany, Pershotravnevo, Marfivka, Katerynivka, where the planted trees were: Scots pine, linden, birch.

The park of Alexandria city was also decorated with thuja trees thanks to the local activists.

Employees of the Sokoliv Central Rural House of Culture have also joined the action “Greening of the Planet” within the Sokoliv community, there was an initiative, held by the Youth Council with the support of the Sokoliv Village Council.

Trees and saplings were planted on the territory of educational institutions (Robert Elworthy Institute of Economics, Central Ukrainian National Technical University) at the initiative of the relevant departments thanks to the applicants as part of the “Greening of  the Planet” campaign.

An incredible wave of positive emotions, memories and inspiration was observed by the participants of the action “Greening of the Planet” in the framework of the “Greening of Ukraine” project.

Co-organizer Oksana Starodubtsova said: “This day was full of positive emotions, because of the people who took part in the action” Greening of Ukraine “have not only done a good deed, by planting trees, but also united people in a common cause – to help our mother – nature. I was a pleasure to see the happy faces of adults and children who are on their way to learn how to take care of the nature. One of the volunteers, Kristina Migul, said: “Planting trees made a positive impression of the action of the “Greening of the Planet” project, since we are doing a good deed for the nature, which gives us its vitally needed resources. The event was well organized and beneficial for its participants, I was taking part along with my little daughter, who is now delighted and says proudly that there are trees on this planet.

More than 100 representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and Ukrainians from around the world joined the action on April 10, 2021.

Meanwhile, the initiative is fully supported by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. Dmytro Kuleba. The Minister stated that human impact has already caused significant damage to our planet. “It is time to correct the mistakes, to stop living in debt and to share positive experience with future generations. Ukraine is committed to the values ​​of respect for nature and preservation of the environment. This project is a great opportunity to introduce these values to the whole world, “said Minister Kuleba.

In order to support the program “Greening of the planet 2021”, Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Bali with the support of IHGMA Bali in the composition of 100 participants planted 200 mangrove trees (Rhizophora mucronata) on Saturday, April 10, 2021. The location of the action is the Serangan estuary, so the trees were planted at low tide. Each participant planted their own mangrove tree, took a photo of it and shared the photo by uploading it to the website: https://greeningplanet.org/. The planting site was aligned with the Bali Forestry Department. The event was also assisted by the local fishermen’s organization of Segar Gun Batu Lumbang Denpasar. Fishermen will continue to look after the trees and protect them, as young seedlings can be damaged during high tides.

“Mangrove trees play a significant role in protecting the coast from seawater intrusion, which can lead to the high hardness of the water that islanders use in their homes, which is why we plant mangrove trees in this protected area of ​​South Bali. In the future, mangrove trees will become a home to marine creatures that feed the ecosystem in a preserved mangrove forest, ” – said Nyoman Astama, co-organizer of Greening the Planet 2021 in Indonesia, UCCI Representative in Indonesia and Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Bali.

“Another positive impact of the campaign is the dissemination of our experience among IHGMA Bali. Hotel general managers will later implement similar projects, which will be an impetus and inspiration for others to support the environment, “said Mr. Astama.

This global initiative is also related to Balinese wisdom, the concept of the “three hitana karana” (three factors for ultimate happiness): “parhyangan” (harmonious relationship between humans and an Almighty God), “pavongan” (harmonious relationship between people) and “palemahan”. In view of the fact the tree planting program was carried out during the pandemic, all participants were tested for COVID-19 symptoms with GeNose C19, a new medical equipment innovation developed by UGM (Gadja Mada University, Indonesia) before the event. This device allows to get results quickly, in less than 5 minutes. Free testing was sponsored by GeNose Citra Bali.

 Benefits of mangrove forests:

Protection of the coast of Bali from the infiltration of sea water, which can cause high hardness of domestic water

Protection of one acre (4000 sq. m) of these forests from climate changes by absorbing almost the same amount of carbon dioxide as the tropical forests

Protection of the coastline from erosion

It serves as an inhabitant area of many aquatic species.

The trees were planted not only in Bali, but also in the capital Jakarta. 

The planting was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Indonesia.

Oleksandr Bondarenko, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Indonesia, embassy staff and representatives of the East Jakarta City Hall and the Jakarta Winegrowers’ Community took part in the action.

Participants have planted 10 grape seedlings, originated from Ukraine on a farm in East Jakarta, Indonesia.
