The alley, dedicated to the freedom was set in the park near Georgy Gongadze’s monument in Kyiv as part of the global environmental project “Greening of the Planet”.
The initiators of this Alley are the “Greening of Ukraine” charitable foundation and the Ukrainian Pravda online edition.
Participants in the launch of the Alley were: the initiators of the landscaping project – Serhii Haidaichuk, president of the business club “CEO Club Ukraine” and Hanna Krysiuk, president of the international women’s business club “Business Woman Club”; Sevgil Musayeva, editor-in-chief of Ukrainian Pravda; Alex Lenaerts, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belgium to Ukraine; Oleksandr Kharchenko, General Director of Ukrinform Agency; Iryna Asman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC “Cartel”, journalists and other representatives of news agencies.
Hanna Krysiuk, co-founder of the “Greening of Ukraine” Charitable Foundation, said: “Today we are planting maples and sakura trees. The maple is a cult tree, a talisman, a symbol of prosperity, order, unity, peace and comfort, permanence, kindness and masculinity, and sakura is a traditional symbol of femininity and beauty. We have planted the male and female trees together, because male mind and female perseverance work miracles. “
“It is important to remember that history of our civil society is not just about the Maidan, but is rather about daily hard work, about people’s with the sole goal. There are many fine stories when Ukrainians made positive changes through the joint efforts of those, who were willing to change. A good example of such story is our project “Greening of the Planet”, which we conduct annually. We have succeeded, because there are still a lot of eco-conscious people. We are grateful to everyone who joins us”, said Serhii Haidaichuk, co-founder of the Greening of Ukraine Charitable Foundation.
The editor-in-chief of Ukrainian Pravda, Sevgil Musayeva, noted that the anniversary of their edition coincides with the event of planting trees in the Alley, that’s why it is so significant: “Today we establish the Alley dedicated to the Freedom of Speech near the monument to Georgy Gongadze, because he is the essence of freedom of speech in Ukraine. At the same time, Greening of the Planet project is considered to be the essence of people’s unification in the willingness of positive changes for the preservation of our future. We are glad to join this initiative and to serve you as information suppliers. We express our appreciation to everyone involved for your professionalism, civic stance, kind words, dedicated work and understanding of our responsibility to the environment. “
On April 10, the environmental action “1 million trees for 1 day in 100 countries of the world” was held throughout Ukraine and in 103 countries worldwide within the framework of the global environmental project “Greening of the Planet”. The results of the Promotion will be announced on April 22.
The scope of Greening of the Planet project is to draw attention to the problems of global warming and the restoration of the planet’s ecosystem, to form a positive international image of Ukraine through a joint history of success and unification of people around the world.
The project is organized by the Ukrainian Charitable Foundation “Greening of Ukraine”. With the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine.
